lava beds, 2005.

one of my favorite images. i took this out of the passenger side window of my truck while we drove by at speed. i only have one good copy of it, and now that i don't print anymore, it's one of my treasures that reminds me i used to be able to burn and dodge.

whites of my eyes

self portrait. 2006.

california coastline

yeah, i can take postcard photos, too. red filter, 2003.

irene on the beach

this was taken right after i got my first 35mm camera, and was taking my first photo class. probably around 2003. my friend irene hung out for two semesters, moved to san francisco, i lost her number, and now she's gone. irene, are you out there?

pool mission portrait

so my brothers and i got to drain a pool and skate it a few years ago. it was a pretty epic day, and a good time was had by all. i set up this portrait with the camera on the lip of the shallow end, and now we get to remember how much fun we had.

clean skateshop show

i used this collage as a flyer for a show at clean skateshop in oakland the day before my birthday in 2006. i also put it in the show, which was made up of about 2 dozen holographic shadowboxes. i gave most of them away as christmas gifts, and kept a couple for our house. they're up on our mantle right now.

thank you notes

i made this collage for thank you notes for everyone who ran the art program at nico's school this year. i volunteer teaching class about every three weeks, but there's a handful of parents who volunteer coordinating the program, the parents, and make it all happen. they deserved a nice thank you.

ollie pop

i took this photo at beresford probably 2006. james rules. i still haven't popped that high.

kitten stencil

i made this stencil from a picture i took in oakland years when my brother was living in the college apartments. this kitten was actually peeking over the rim of the bathtub. ridiculous cute.

phoenix stencil

this is my most recent skateboard stencil. i found the image in a jack o lantern. yeah, if you think it looks rough here, you should imagine someone cutting that out of a pumpkin. geez. colored pencils and craft paint. whoo hoo!

kat's first show

this is a flyer i made for my wife's first show with her band, whores of war (wasted again at the time), about fall of 2007 i think. i hadn't done any collage for awhile at the time, and i had a lot of fun with it. good stuff, all around.

corner cup show

so i put up a show at the corner cup, and had a lot of fun. thanks everyone who came out to support! if you're reading this because you saw the show and are checking out the website, i know it's practically empty, but now that this latest show is up i'm going to be working hard to get this in order. check back in a week, you'll be glad you did.

fracture.

this is part of a photo collage project from about five years ago. all of the photos were printed with a liquid emulsion on a thick printing paper that i was really in love with at the time. i was big into tearing all the paper and attaching it to the wooden backgrounds with staples that i had lovingly rusted myself. good fun, huh? thanks, ben.
